Crazy Fish Fresh Grill Saint Louis, MO
Excellent, upscale dinning. Great service, and a nice selection on the menu. Pay attention to the specials each night...there are some great one. The leg of lamb was especially tasty.
Route 66 Brewery & Restaurant Saint Louis, MO
The service here was average, and the food quality wasn't much better. We went on a slow day, and it still took us over an hour and a half to get through our meal. The menu was standard bar food, and there weren't any real specials to be offered. There are much better restaurants in Union Station.
P'Sghetti's Pasta & Sandwiches Saint Louis, MO
Great pasta selection, with really good prices. You can feed a family of four for a very resonable price. Casual and tasty.
Cicero's Restaurant & Basement Saint Louis, MO
Excellent restaurant for pizza and pasta. A great selection of both. Some of their specialty pizzas are really worth trying. And a great selection of beers from around the world. Great for a nice casual dinner, with plenty of leftover to take home.
Rich & Charlie's Saint Louis, MO
Great service, and huge portions. Really good pastas and salads. Very affordable to feed a family. Excellent for take-out, or dinning in. The service was really good, but it does get quite crowded with lots of families showing up in the evenings. The wait can get long on the weekends.
Denny's Granite City, IL
I think we've all been to Denny's. It's standard chain restaurant food, with plenty of sitting and slow service. When it's busy, plan on waiting a long time for your meal. But they won't rush you out, so you'll have plenty of time to eat. The menu is huge, and there are some good selections, if you pick carefully. Usually they have a dessert or two that's worth trying.
Woofie's Hotdogs Saint Louis, MO
This is a St. Louis classics. Cheap hot dogs with all the fixin in a casual diner. Very tasty, and WILL leave you with heartburn. But it's all worth it in the end. Don't forget the fries!
Govinda's Vegetarian Rstrnt Saint Louis, MO
Super cheap lunch buffet, but you'd better like veggies. This is strictly vegetarian, but worth a trip. Plenty of food, and lots of taste. Great for lunch during the week.
Cafe Manhattan Saint Louis, MO
Great local cafe. Lots of classic diner food, and some St. Louis favorites (like toasted ravioli). Huge salads, great sandwhiches, and generous portions. Their milk shakes are awesome! Can get crowded on the weekends, and it's not a big place, so plan on a wait.
Michael's Bar & Grill Saint Louis, MO
Great local bar / hang-out. Great steak sandwhich...one of the best in town. Nice size portions, and a good menu to choose from. Relaxed, casual atmosphere. Very busy on weekends.
Joseph's Italian Cafe Saint Louis, MO
Excellent restaurant for lunch...especially a business lunch. Lots of great menu items. A particular favorite is the stromboli...very meaty, and tasty. Elegant atmosphere, and knowledgable and friendly wait staff. A bit pricy, but worth it in the end.
Pointer's Delivery Saint Louis, MO
Great place for fast, tasty delivery pizza. Small delivery area. Don't neglect to look at the items on the menu that aren't pizza. They have a special sub that is delicious, and some of their other items are great. Portion sizes are nice too. Of course, there's always the Pointersaurus...if you and a friend can eat this HUGE pizza in one hour, it's yours free PLUS 500 bucks. I don't know of anyone who's eaten one!
Pumpernickle's Real Deli Saint Louis, MO
I find this deli highly over-rated. The food is good, but not always that fresh, and not always "authentically" deli. It's good, but there are much better delis around. Their Sunday brunch tends to be even more over-rated than their regular dining. Again, the food isn't bad, it just doesn't stand out as a great brunch restaurant and/or menu.
Mai Lee Restaurant Saint Louis, MO
Very good Asian food. A HUGE menu, with Vietnamese options and plenty of Chinese style dishes. Lots of soups, and plenty of vegetarian fare. The prices are reasonable, and the service is pretty good. Very crowded on the weekends. An excellent dinner option for a group or couple.
Talayna's At the Park Saint Louis, MO
The pizza here is good. Some think very good. Personally, I only order the Chicago style deep dish. It is AMAZING. I haven't had much else at Talayna's. The big problem is the service. The service at the restaurant stinks! I've never waited less than 45 minutes to get my food, and it's really hard to get the attention of a waiter. It is just incredibly slow. So if you are looking for good pizza, just call ahead and order it for pick-up. The service at the pick-up window isn't top-notch either, but it's the easiest and most enjoyable way to eat Talayna's pizza.
Le Petit Paris Saint Louis, MO
Le Petit Paris is a nice LITTLE French restaurant in an eclectic part of town. It IS a little restaurant...maybe 15 tables altogether. The result is that the service is top notch..very efficient, and very personal. If you are taking someone there on a special occasion, make sure to request the private booth (with curtains that you can draw for extra privacy).
The food is quite good. Very authentic French food. A nice wine selection, and a good range of specials. It is a bit pricey, but usually worth it for the authenticity you get. They have plenty of fish options usually, and most of the standard French fare. They also have some unusual combinations of foods that you won't find at other French restaurants.
The atmosphere is elegant, very French, and quaint.
Great for an anniversary, birthday or other special celebration. Make sure to make reservations.
Zuzu Handmade Mexican Food Saint Louis, MO
Zuzu's has become a staple of downtown Clayton. It's a relaxed atmosphere, with a good twist on Mexican food. The service is quick, the prices are definitely right, and the menu is a good size. Lots of vegetarian options, and lots of authentic Mexican dishes. Their side dishes are delicious..especially the roasted potatoes. Nice for lunch, or dinner.
St Louis Brewery Saint Louis, MO
Also known as The Tap Room, the St. Louis Brewery has a great menu, with lots of bar food staples, some specialties, and some delicious appetizers. The goat cheese rare-bit is a favorite. As is the cheese plate. Lots of options for main courses, from sandwiches to full entrees. The french fries are a MUST, but if you're only ordering for one, make sure to get the small size...it's still huge. I've never been disappointed with the chicken sandwhich, either. And of course, they have a nice selection of beer to complement the menu.
King Louie's Saint Louis, MO
Excellent atmoshpere, delicious food, great value. The atmosphere is casual, but elegant, especially at night and on the weekends. The menu changes often, with delicious seafood specials, and plenty of meat options. There are also a number of vegetarian dishes. The service has alway been top notch. This is a great restaurant to take parents when the come into town to visit, or to take someone to celebrate a special occasion. The location is a little out of the way, but that keeps the crowds away too, for the most part. Excellent restaurant.
Hunan Manor Saint Louis, MO
This is one of the scariest Chinese restaurants I've ever been in. You should always be wary of ANY restaurant located in the BASEMENT of a garage!
The quality of the meat is second or third rate, the lunch buffet is always crowded, and the vegetables are seldom fresh. There's always a slightly "dirty" feeling to the place. The service is fine, but during the buffet, it's pretty much every man for himself.
The silverware and plates are often not very clean. And on more than one occasion, I got relatively ill after eating from the buffet.
I'd stay clear of this restaurant. If you are looking for good Chinese food, downtown St. Louis might NOT be your best bet.
