Ristorante Ecco San Francisco, CA
I have been here three times and will return again. The host is always very accomodating and friendly The food is awesome! I tried the linguine with pears and gorgonzola, very good The contorni combination was excellent The pumpkin ravioli (when on menu) is TO DIE FOR Nice South Park location, warm ambience.
Paul-Joe's Ristorante San Carlos, CA
We went there with coupons from the Entertainment book. The entrees were rich, almost too big. A table near us had pizza, it also looked good. Fun atmosphere, friendly service. We will go back.
San Remo's Neapolitan Pizzeria San Carlos, CA
Pizza was dangerously close to New York pizza, but a little greasy. I was favorably impressed with the food, and the decor is pleasant. Service was a little slow.
Andale Taqueria Palo Alto, CA
I love the "Burrito of the 90's" (which I'm sure will earn me the flames of the "authentic" crowd). It is a spinach tortilla filled with deep green lettuce with vinaigrette, goat cheese, marinated shrimp (or chicken, but go for the shrimp), and crisp tortilla strips. It is covered with the most delicious cooked chunky tomato and onion sauce. Of course it is a special, so they don't always have it...but the other specials are also good.
Flames Coffee Shop Of Santa Clara Santa Clara, CA
This tacky little diner has THE BEST grilled chicken sandwich (if you don't mind the butter on the grilled sesame bun). The club is made with REAL roast turkey breast. The french fries are perfectly cooked to order. The hostess has a terminal case of big hair, but that's part of the charm. Prices reasonable, wait staff efficient and friendly (career waitresses, mostly). I love this place.
Pizza Chicago Santa Clara, CA
This is the best pizza in the South Bay! Ask for the Blackhawk (named after the hockey team, not the upscale housing devel.) It has red peppers, ricotta cheese, lemon zest, and cracked black pepper, and we substitute fresh tomato for the standard sausage. Not on the menu, but available for the asking!
Bucks Restaurant Redwood City, CA
A great "New Mexico" cobb salad (basically not a cobb salad at all). Very good burgers. Special appetizers are to die for, but we've been disappointed by the special entrees (WAY too heavy handed, especially with the garlic). A very unique, fun place. Also good for breakfast/brunch.
