They say that what was old is new again, and that goes for the Sandbar, reopened in April '09. Built in 1958, I was a regular customer when I was stationed there with the Air Force. The place had a great family feel with loads of fine fried seafood. The 'new' Sandbar still has that same old feel and the same great fried seafood (hey it is the South), but now you can get is broiled or grilled - just ask. They have all the standard seafood items available either as 'baskets' or dinners - shrimp, oysters, scallops, flounder and dolphin (the fish, not flipper lol). The crab cakes are great. They also have burgers, chicken sandwiches and steaks for land lubbers. The bread is out of sight, ask them to nuke it for you so it's warm. The sunset views of the Folly River are magnificent. So next time you're in Folly Beach get off Center Street and go down to Sandbar Lane.

I enjoy watching them prepare the food, it is great. The food taste as good as they look. One thing you should not miss it their saki, once you try, you will fall in love with it.

I love the most is the way the chefs cook your dinner at your table. The best place for Japanese food in Charleston. Great food and relaxed atmoshere. You must try the saki with your sushi or dinner.

This place is a bit pricey, with it worth what you pay. A great place for a date, he or she will be impressed and enjoyed. The waitstaff is very professional and knowledgeable of the entire menu...ready to help you out. The wine menu is awesome and complements your meal. I will say tis is the best seafood place in Charleston...wish I could go more often.

Fabulous food, great service, nice menu. The dishes are served picture perfect. Sushi is a good choice for an appetizer. My personal favorites here are the petite filet and the scallops (which are wonderful). If you have room for dessert try anything on the menu it will be perfect. Besides all this the restaurant is sparkling clean and beautifully decorated with a few alligators thrown in for conversation pieces. I love this restaurant.

The food there is excellent. However, I would never eat there again. Our waitress took our drink orders and brought them to our table and set them down and she was through with that. Then she brought our food and set it down and left before we could ask for anything, and she was through with that. The restaurant had about 10 tables and 4 or 5 wait staff. It was not very busy, so no reason for be unattentive. We ask for separate tickets when we put in our soft drink orders, 4 people, two tabs. We realized the problem once we got our bill. An 18% gratutity was added to both tabs. No reason to work for your tips, they are already guaranteed. I did not enjoy this experience. We were still talking about this the next day. We tried to figure out who the manager was, but could not seem to figure that out, unless it was the guy tending bar, who was having a lengthy conversation with the one person at the bar.

The view from the resteraunt is the best of the inlet. The atmosphere here is great as well, and me and my wife even had our baby. I have to admit I was a little timid of the place when I first saw it, but I am glad we went here, great family resteraunt. Food was out of the world and the service was excellent. If you are in this area, this resteraunt is a good stop. Good selection on the menu as well.
