If you are looking for good Italian fare, head to Evangelo's. They have a nice mix of entrees. The appetizers are a decent size. The calamari comes in slices, as opposed to rings, with a side of marinara sauce. The dipping sauce for the fried zucchini has a nice, cool taste. We usually order both and mix the sauces for a unique tangy yet smooth dip. The pizzas are good. The crust is usually golden and done just right. Plenty of toppings to go around. The restaurant gives the air of being high class but is still comfortable enough to kick back in jeans & a tshirt with a cold beer.

Sounds to me like someone has an ax to grind with the folks at the restaurant. However, we have been longtime customers of Colony Kitchen aka The Noisy Goose Cafe and have nothing but great things to say about it. The servings are plentiful, the service is prompt and courteous and the decor is humorous. Who hangs geese from the ceiling? The people who run the NOISY GOOSE CAFE, that's who! They also put bears carved from wood and witty plaques all over the place. Gee, who would have thought that Alaskans might have a sense of humor and would appreciate some fun in their dining experience. The only thing that might put folks off is the occasional wait time, but that's usually during the dinner rush and on the weekends, mostly during breakfast. It's well worth it, though. Don't forget to try their pies.

To this day, my wife and I recall Hot Licks as one of the best places anywhere to get ice cream. All their ice cream is home made and has all the fat and calories missing from store-bought frozen desserts (along with the taste). My wife's favorite is the cinnamon ice cream. The only down-side is that the shop is located near the University, so it gets crowded in the evenings with all the students preferring it as a hang-out. Heartily recommended! We only went to the pump house once. I found that the portions were small and pricey. We left feeling as though we were slightly robbed. The atmosphere is really nice w/a great deal of history. I'd recommend this place as more of a bar friendly hang out joint. Food ok - but the price for what you get takes my vote down a notch.

My husband & I moved to Fairbanks with the military from the DC area. We were saddened by the thought that we would not have the Thai food selection as we had in DC. At the recommendation of a friend we tried out the Thai House. The service and food is fantastic. We have our favorites but the prices are so low, we normally order a "new" dish on our frequent Friday night dates. We always order extra because my husband thinks that Panang Beef is the best Sat morning breakfast. Highly recommended!!!!
