I have eaten there with my husband a couple of times last month, and I have ordered a take out last week... In all three times the food was excellent. In fact, this restaurant was rated # 1 by dine.com in 1997. As far as I am concerned it is still # 1 mexican restaurant in Santa Clara. Average price per person is $8 to $10. Large and delicious food portions... The owner is usually there with his wife, and they are both very nice and frienly folks, and I love the way they had the place decorated!! They have an "all you can eat" buffet for lunch between 11:30 and 1:30 for $7.95. I've never been there during the lunch buffet time, but I can vouch for their good food. The restaurant is very clean too.

Above average mexican food. It's like old style or traditional taste, but it's good and better than most mexican restaurants, fast or slow. If you are like me and find most of the independent mexican restaurants in the Silicon Valley tasting straight out of a can, then you will like this place. No out of the can taste here. Chips are crispy and salsa fresh. The only thing I did not like much was their service.

Pretty average Mexican food, lacking somewhat in authenticity. The service is friendly and the menu selection is good.

Big disappointment. Food tasted like it had been made and stored until somebody ordered it. Service was ok but the quality was very poor. Two of us ate lunch there and both meals were poor. There are definitly better choices in the area.

With the original owners returned, the food has improved tremendously. The food is abundant and presented nicely. It is served plate hot. Lots of choices ! The waiters are up and down. There are a few good ones and few slow ones . If you go early around 5:00 - 5:30 you usually don't have to wait. On Friday and Saturday, they have a soloist who is pretty good, though at times the sound is projecting quite loud. He takes requests for songs and is friendly . We recommend this very highly!

Great food, in both taste and quantity, makes La Paloma a regular destination of mine. It's among my favorite few Mexican restaurants in Santa Clara County. Be sure to read the "specials" board on the way in: the spinach/mushroom enchiladas and tomatillo enchiladas they occasionally have are superb. The decor and environment are nice. Wooden beams and iron chaneliers spice up the appearnce without being gaudy. You can actually have a conversation at your table without shouting, here. Contrast that with, say, Chevy's, which is about as noisy as an indoors rock concert. My only complaint about La Paloma is the wait service, which varies all the way across the spectrum from good to bad. I remember one visit where we our waiter disappeared for almost half an hour and we cornered 4 or 5 other members of the staff before we could get anyone to bring us our check. Most of the time, though, service is at least decent. You may have to raise a finger to get your waiter's attention, but I suppose that's better than being rushed through dinner.

This place has the atmosphere of old Mexico They have a great buffet during lunch or you can choose something from the menu. I like the combinations best! The owner is always there to greet you with a smile, and the service is GREAT!
