A sausage pizza with 1 1/2" of sausage and cheese--no skimping
here, these are the best pizzas in Dubois County, hands down.
Though I have never sampled any of Monte's other fare, I hear
nothing but good things regarding the subs and stroms. I suppose
I should try them sometime myself, but that one pizza of Monte's
has me hooked. The restaraunt itself is a trifle small for my tastes,
so I generally get carry-out. However, the place is clean, and
has that small town Southern Indiana family quality that makes
it stand above 99.9% of places in the area.

Located in Haysville, Indiana has quickly gained the reputation
as the standard to attempt to beat in "made from scratch" pizzas,
submarines, and stromboli sandwhichs. The owner, Carl Gibson,
is also the main cook behind the counter. His deluxe large pizza,
depending on your item selection, is about a solid inch thick.
If you are expecting, a "see-through" pizza then this is not the
place for you. They are open from around 4 PM to about 11 Pm every
evening except Monday. Beer is available to be served with the
food orders. With a large parking lot in
front, there is never a problem with finding a space for you car;
the two dining areas can accommodate about 50 people. The pizza
is so good that local pizza delivery from Jasper
has almost ceased entirely.
