Being a New Yorker I know good pizza, and I have to say this place was very
good. I was very impressed, and aside from pizza they had plenty of great
appetizers. Very good place.

For a long time, they were actually pretty good. But I've had problems
lately. My pizza was only half-cooked (twice). Last time I went there
took about 20 minutes to get my breadsticks (appetizer). They have
a 25% off special on Monday evenings.. but call first and make sure they're
still running that special.

For dinner, I shared the Rush Street pizza, primarily an all meat
pizza including pepperoni, bacon and linguica. I really liked
the deep dish style pizza and the crust was quite good. Now, I'll
need to come back and try some of their more unique pizzas. The
place is a moderate sized restaurant with a few outdoors tables.

With the demise of Pizzeria Uno over a year ago, Pizza Chicago
is one of the few places in the San Jose area to get real deep dish
pizza.
The good news is that they do a pretty good job of it. This isn't
a Pizza-Hut-like "deep" dish which is essentially
slightly thicker crust. Nope, this is genuine deep dish pizza.
The restaurant itself is pretty small with just a handful of tables,
but they do take your order and serve you.
I have always found the pizza to be very good and the service to
be excellent.
The only deep dish remaining in the whole Bay Area which is significantly
better is Zachary's in Berkeley, but I'm not enough
of a die hard to drive an hour for pizza.

this is really good pizza. i first heard about it because they
sent out an ad with a coupon for a free pizza. i didn't expect
much and just ordered a sausage and mushroom pizza. it was awesome.
later, i went with my coworkers and saw that they had a menu full
of all sorts of creative ingredients. it was really funny cos
some of my coworkers are vegetarians; so originally we worried
what they could eat. however, this restaurant has so many choices
for vegetarians! even though i'm an omnivore, i often opt
for the soy mozzarella just because i can. now, i always stick
to their long menu of special pizzas.

Service was terrible. Stopped by and ordered a calzone and some
pasta to go. They said it would take about 20 minutes. Came back
in 25 minutes, and had to wait an additional 20 minutes to get the
food. I'm pretty certain, they didn't even start preparing
the food until we came back. When we finally did get the food, they
forgot to give us the salad that comes with the pasta. I was really
surprised since they had just forgotten to the salad for the person
who was picking up their order before us. After giving us the salad,
they didn't even apologize for the delay or for forgetting
the salad. As for the food, it was about average. The calzone was
too bready but it was very large. The pasta was pretty good.

Atmosphere: Average
Crowd: Varies
Dress: Casual
Food: Excellent
Noise: Average
Service: Average to above average
Comments: We went here last night for dinner. The seater was acting
rather strange, asking us where we wanted to sit and then saying
to every place we picked, "No..." and so finally we were seated.
We had the garlic cheese bread. It's quite good. Then we received
our Two Thumbs Up (Four-cheese pizza). This is TRULY Chicago-style
pizza with insanely thick crust and two-inch thick pizza. We
both thought it was some REALLY good pizza and ESPECIALLY if you
like Chicago-style.

To the best of our knowledge there is only ONE pizza restaurant
in the entire south bay area and this IS it!
Having lived in Chicago and NYC for far too long (considering
their terrible weather) and having an apartment across the street
from Hayworths, the great- grandaddy of all Chicago Deep-Dish
pizza parlors (their 3" deep, 6" diameter one would feed a family
of 4 for a week!), we know exactly what a good deep-disher has to
be.
PizzA-Chicago is as close as any place has ever come to our tough
standards. One of the tricks that make their pizzas so good is
the use of a Sicillian dough for the crust. This has quite a bit
of sugar in it which helps it to caramelize and seal in the moisture
while keeping the inner and outer surfaces crisper. That's why
this pizza is just as good on the first or second reheating at home
as it was in the restaurant.
