I have been dining here for over 17 years and, Yes, there is ALWAYS a wait, unless you get there very early for either lunch or dinner. Once you know this then you will be prepared to relax over a beer or good glass of wine. The menu is great! I especially love their fresh fish selection, clam chowder, crab louie and also the mussels. Very fresh seafood! The service isn't always at it's best but we go there knowing we'll be there awhile. Also, love the cheese garlic bread, addicting!

Excellent, very fresh seafood. Most fish are even environmentally correct (see the Seafood Watch list from the Monterey Bay Aquarium). Casual dress. Noisy. Can be crowded sometimes. Good kids menu.

My husband and I like to sit at the oyster bar and have lots of appetizers here. It is almost too busy to be worth the wait, the noise and the crowds. For seafood though, there are few other places that offer the freshness and variety. Go very early or very late in order not to wait forever. Service is usually just OK due to the business of the restaurant. The panko coated scallops are very good.

The food prices at the Santa Clara outlet for the Fish Market are creeping up there. I do enjoy the food here, and the fish is just about as fresh as getting it from Princeton-by-the-Sea or Half Moon Bay. The plus here is the fact that they cook it and then clean up the dishes afterwards. My family likes this place, but it does tend to get busy in weekend evenings...

Our server was polite and prompt but made a mistake on an order and then told one of my party that THEY were wrong and had ordered incorrectly! Otherwise, everything was fine. I had the Smoked Fish Sampler ($14.95), and everything was fresh and well-cooked. I recommend the Fish Market for decent seafood in a pleasant atmosphere.

The food was also not as good as usual. I had the Calimari Saute ($7.95, so not expensive) and it was average with teeny portions. Then I had the Creme Brulee ($3.95) for dessert and it was NOT as good as the most recent Creme Brulee I had (Birk's). Overall, it was okay but not up to usual quality.
