Schwamkrug's Steakhouse

My visit to Schwamkrug's since the new owners bought and renovated it was the biggest waste of food money in many months. The new bill of fare looks appetizing, but doesn't come close to living up to it's promises. The stuffing on the stuffed baked flounder was some unidentifiable cheesy concoction, and the fish itself was thin, with a taste remarkably similar to those frozen fish sticks the school cafeteria used to dish out. The steak was a tasteless, unmarinated common piece of meat, with enough fat around the edges to reduce the proclaimed 14 ounces to an edible ten. Another unidentifiable substance was basted and encrusted onto one side of the meat, probably in a vain attempt to impart some form of flavor. About a quarter of an ear of corn, cut in half lengthwise (a garnish?!) lay on one edge of the plate. The two baked potato garnishes and the salad dressing came in ugly black plastic disposable single serving containers. Likewise with the butter, except these containers were much smaller and yellow in color. C'mon, folks, if your going to charge me Outback Steakhouse prices for a meal, at least provide real dishes and let me choose the quantity I want to dispense. Which brings up another black mark. You are expected to pay premium prices for this less than mediocre fare. The food was terrible, the restaurant was hot (I was actually sweating before the meal was finished), the prices are high, and every table within sight got bread served to them except us. Don't waste your money. less
