Great atmosphere (in that weird way that downtown Butte on a Saturday
night makes you feel, like a character in a Tom Waits song). Incredibly
bad food. You'll be stunned when it arrives at your table. It's
going on my list of all-time worst meals. So go for the atmosphere. Order
something cheap.

The Pekin Noodle Parlor is a Butte fixture. If you know and understand
Butte, you will love this restaurant. If not, you'll be equally
as appalled by Joe's Pasty Shop, Pork Chop John's and Matt's
Drive-In. Flatlanders stay home. Please don't go to the M&M, the
Deluxe or the Silver Dollar. You won't fit in. Besides P.F. Chang's
and SRO were developed just for you. All others are welcome.

This is, with all sincerity, one of the most horrible places that
I've ever dined; ‘Pekin Noodle Parlor’ lacks in everything
from it's cooking to its so-called 'ambience'/'atmosphere'.

If you were to overlook everything else, the service was acceptable.
The waitress seated us & promptly hurried off to fetch us
a teapot filled with last night's laundry water - upon her
return, we were furnished with menus listing a wide variety so-called
"Chinese" cuisine. The house specialty being 'noodles'
(to state the obvious), we ordered a dish of egg-noodles with
a beef chow-mein, and were served something resem-bling (in
terms of taste and appearance) a dollar-priced TV dinner with
a side of ramen. Though not espe-cially pleasing, I'll admit
that the meal was cooked & served expediently.

To say the most, our meal was sub-par; Drenched in oil & spiced
so overpoweringly, I was al ...

Great atmosphere, and very good (authentic) chinese food. Service
is great as well. It's no surprise this place has been around
so long.

The Chinese came to Butte to take their share of the ore from the
placer mines but more often they worked as launderers, tailors,
and cooks. At one time there were 10 to 15 noodle parlors in the
uptown area. Most of these stood in the Chinatown section of Butte
where the Pekin Noodle Parlor now stands up the alley from the
defunct Mai Wah and Wah Chong Tai.
During the 1920's, hundreds of Chinese lived in this block which
was adjacent to the red light district of Butte known as "Venus
Alley" or "The Line." The Pekin, which was built in 1909, is the
last of these Chinese noodle parlors still serving Chinese food
in Butte. The Pekin is still operated at its original location
by Danny Wong, descendant of the Chinese family that has continually
operated the restaurant since 1916.
Settle into one of the curtained salmon-pink booths and order
the great chop suey or the house specialty - noodles in clear broth
topped with chopped scallions, served plain or with a si ...

This is the place for chinese food. The Peking has been a Butte
treasure for a long time. They serve great chinese food plus american
also. You dine in a booth with drawn curtains for privacy, the
atmosphere is as delicious as the food. Situated on the second
floor (you walk up from the entrance on Main St.), it has an air
of seediness to it that instead of detracting from the ambience
it creates a mood of long ago when Butte was at its' high point during
the gold rush days. It is rumored that in the layers below there
is the remnants of an old opium den. Ask about it. This is a town
of history and the Peking is reminder of that period.

Gosh this is just about as good as it gets. This restaurant
holds much of the old Butte tradition while serving the best
food that you will find anywhere. If you don't like Chinese
food, no problem! They've got lots of wonderful American
dishes as well. And, you must make sure that you meet Danny!

This place has been in Butte for almost as long as Butte has been
here. It is still owned in part by the same family that started
it. The food is great if you like Chines.
