We went yesterday and aren't as thrilled with Clara's as we had been in the past. As in the past the service tends to be slow and the food is ok but not great. The location is the best part about eating at Clara's the building is very cool and you can watch trains go by as you eat.

Very cool building. We recommend sitting in the train car on the side with the train tracks and watching trains pass by the window. The food has always been very good and there is a huge variety of offerings.

I think some reviewers are being overcritical of this place. The decor is very nice and the staff are excellent. The food is typical to very good. No, it's not gourmet, but the variety is astonishing as displayed by their menu; and their Sunday brunch may be a bit pricey, but it is one of the best in town. <br>

My only real complaint is that although the place is large, their seating arrangement is cramped. Also, the smoking section is too close to the non-smoking section with no barriers. At least it's elevated a bit above it. If you're oversensitive, it's best to ask for a seat in the dining car.

Interesting decor done in a renovated Train Station... you can actually be served also in an old train car. They have a wide variety of foods and I've enjoyed each one I have tried.

Very popular bar. It is a convert train station. within the past few years they have opened up a train car restaurant. This is a great place to have your parents take you when visiting MSU. Decent high-class food choices with a fairly stocked bar. Defintly a favorite

The atmosphere is interesting and fun. It is always crowded a lot of the crowd are parents taking their college kid to dinner. The food is average and needs some updating.

I enjoyed this restaurant. It has a cool setting and I ordered the cheese pizza which was very good. The salad was also delicious. The cheesecake however was not very good at all, but I dont like cheesecake anyhow so I'm not one to rate that.

This train station has been a meeting place for many years. The food has declined but is still very popular. Varied menu with lots of choices. The salads are worth trying. Service can vary widely. Enough parking. There can be a wait.

I WOULD HAVE TO DISAGREE. I BELIEVE THIS RESTAURANT, ALTHOUGH HAS A WARM FEELING, DOESN'T DESERVE A 3 STAR RATING. I WOULD GIVE IT A 2 STAR AT BEST. THE FOOD IS VERY POOR QUALITY, MOST LIKELY GORDON FOOD SERVICE.......

I debated whether to rate this 3 stars or 4. Based on the food alone I'd give it a three. But Clara's is located in the old Michigan Avenue train station. It was thoroughly renovated and it quite an interesting place for lunch or dinner (or breakfast/brunch on Sunday). The walls are covered with old photographs and memorabilia from Lansing and around the state of Michigan. Wonderful old high vaulted ceiling with lots of lovely woodwork in full view. The menu features soups, sandwiches and entrees from steaks to southwestern fare. The Cobb salad is quite good and nearly a meal in itself. There is also a small bar off the left of the main dining area and an old restored train car just outside with restaurant seating inside it also. The Sunday brunch is huge with a really wide selection of the usual breakfast stuff -- eggs, pancakes and waffles, sausage, bacon, rolls and pastries, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruits and deserts! If you like to "pig out" on Sunday breakfast/brunch, this is the place to do it! But it's usually quite busy Sunday mornings so come early if you don't like crowds!
