Well, this is a chain of course and it is about the same in terms
of menu and quality as the others I have visited. The layout is
about the same too. We went with large group and they treated us
well. We had an assortment of appetizers and drinks and everyone
enjoyed what we had. We shared the appetizers. The main courses
were good too. I had a steak and it was fine. There aren't a
lot of really good places in Kalamazoo, so this was nice to find.

Very nice, if predictible, chop house, with excellent steaks
and seafood. Good place for special occasions, without being
too formal. Worth the money and the wait.

Great Lakes Shipping Company is our favorite "nice" place to
eat. The menu doesn't change much from visit to visit, but why
mess with success?
The salad bar is very nice, and the Steak Au Poivre is a long-time
favorite.
Watch for Friday evenings before Kalamazoo Symphony concerts
- make your reservations in advance. Service remains timely
regardless of the crowd, with separate beverage and food servers.
Decor is warm and comfortable, with a Great Lakes nautical theme
(hence the name).
On not-so-busy nights, the management and staff can accomodate
the occasional informal business meeting by seating attendees
at a large table in an otherwise unoccupied room.
