It's hard to go too wrong when your evening begins at New Delhi (you can end it there too, if you want). The cocktail list is great and they make a Lychee Martini with house made infused vodka that will knock your socks off. If food is more your thing - they are a restaurant after all - then head to the dining room and go nuts. I've tasted most of the menu and it's all be pretty fantastic. The chicken korma and sag paneer are my faves, but if you want to turn up the heat, go for the rogan josh or lamb vindaloo. Both pretty well define "good pain". There's a second happy hour from 10:00 to midnight when all the hotel cooks show up, so if you want some good kitchen gossip, hang around until then.

We just got back from an awesome dinner at New Delhi. We got there at around 8pm on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy, but not packed and we were seated in just a couple of minutes. Our waiter was very friendly, and the owner, Ranjan, was very attentive. He really wants everything to be impeccable, and to get to know you and make you feel welcome. We started off by sharing the tandoori appetizer and it was scrumptios! It was probably the best appetizer I've had at any indian restaurant. Everything was perfectly spiced and grilled, but not dry. It had such great flavors. Then we shared rogan josh - a spicy lamb curry - and chicken korma. They korma was my favorite. I loved the flavors. It was a recommendation of our waiter and I was sketchy about it since it doesn't have any vegetables in it and it's described as sweet and spicy, but it was really tasty. We will be going back for sure. This is one of our favorite finds in SF!

Whether you're from India or not, it's difficult to NOT enjoy this gastronomic experience. The food is simply, and I do mean simply amazing. Just the right amount of seasoning to let the flavor of the food stand out. The presentation is grand, the drinks are up to par with the food. I recommend the Lychee Martini...actually the entire cocktail list is amazing. Save room for dessert, the mango ice cream is worth it. Go, try and enjoy. I know I have, and look forward to it every time.

I've been craving good Indian food since I moved over here but have had a few disappointments. So when a friend recommended this place my hopes weren't high. Oh my word. The food here is fantastic, just like home. The lamb rogan josh was superb, well spiced without inducing a sweat, the nan bread soft and sweet and the dal was heavenly. They even have bottles of Kingfisher! There's a small but cozy bar at the entrance and the décor is very nice. The staff are also very friendly. All in all a real find.

Not the best Indian food in SF, but perhaps the most unique setting! Bar in front has juke box that is easily heard from the dining room. Nothing like eating Vindaloo while you're listening to the Doors sing Light My Fire! Decent food and colorful menu. Good tandoori.

I had Lunch buffet yesterday at about 12:30pm along with friends. It was the worst buffet we have ever tried in any Indian restaurant. The food and service sucked. I stop by this restaurant once in few months. It is going from bad to worst.
They had only two veg. and two Non-Veg dishes plus fried rice and cold naan. The appetizer pakora was almost over which was replaced with papad. By the time we were ready for dessert(rice sweet), it was over. When asked they said sorry and replaced it with raita.
Apart from all of this it was overly priced.
This is definitely a place to avoid. There are many better Indian restaurants few blocks away from this restaurant.

I stopped in recently for the lunch buffet. I've never been to an Indian restaurant that did not have freshly cooked naan brought you your table. That's standard. To make matter worse, there was not even plain yogurt, much less raita. Can you imagine? On top of that it is overpriced by a great deal. In short, it is not even worth the consideration of a visit.

This is not the place to go in San Francisco for Indian food. In fact, it's a place to avoid. Perhaps the cavernous surroundings tend to overwhelm the reality that the food is very bad.

We had a 1.5h wait for a table. The resturant management would seat larger groups of people that had arrived after we had. I guess making money was more important. The food was fair. Then at then end we believe that they intentionally made a "mistake" with the billing. I would not recommend this resturant.

This restaurant can be described in one word -- "mediocre." The evening meal is tolerable at best. At lunch they have a very poor buffet. If you ask to order from the menu at lunch, they "will have to ask the kitchen if it can be done." If they had more options, I would be there often.

Excellent Indian food served in a polished London style. The food is excellent, and the service was fairly polished with the waitpersons really trying to please. The decor is very nice.
