I read so many glowing 5 star reviews about Milano, it was our civic duty
to finally eat here. Russian Hill parking - maddening, impossible.
Take muni or pay for parking somewhere down on Van Ness and hike up the
hill.
Our table reservation promptly honored. Friendly greeting then quickly
seated in the cramped front window room. Busy Sunday night, took the
waiter 25 minutes to take our orders.
Romano salad was light, fresh, & crunchy. Minestrone / Lentil
soup with homemade beef stock equally good. Lasagna was sauted style,
not the baked gummy mess you get in Americanized places. Good but not
great, a little watery tasting. Linguini with cream sauce was over
powerfully rich - But Yum! Ricotta tart was warm and tasty.
Small glasses of wine at $10-$12 each are overpriced. Bill for 90 minutes
of fun = $114.
Verdict: Very good food, nice people, cramped & crowded room.
Smallest public toilet in San Francisco.
I like Antica Trattoria located 2 streets aw ...

Well We were back again to this restaurant last night. We seem to eat
here once a year on our Anniversary (Today) and again everything was
great.
The owner and our waiter remembered us even though we only eat here once
a year...that is so nice.
I am always impressed at how reasonable the prices are at this restaurant.
The menu is certainly a bit limited but the daily specials have always
been varied and delightful. I can honestly say that I have never had
a bad meal here and the service is always fun, engaging and attentive!
Aldo the owner is always on top of things and even though I do understand
that there have been some underwhelming reviews this place is truly
one of the hidden gems of San Francisco! Eating at Restorante Milano
for me is like having a great bottle of wine that you found for $20!
Itls certainly easy to find great food in San Francisco.....and it;s
easy to find reasonable prices (well maybe not that easy)....but Milano
is the absolute best of bot ...

Absolutely fabulous food and great wait staff. The restaurant is tiny,
so make a reservation. Monday is a limited menu due to fewer deliveries,
so if it's you first visit, come a different night to ensure taht
all the best is on their menu. This is the best Italian restaurant I've
been to in SF. I highly, highly recommend it.

I would recommend having dinner here for anyone. And, the place gets
crowded so you might want to make a quick reservation. This is one of
San Francisco's great places for fine dining.

We had 2 meals here, to give it a chance. But, no mas!!! The food
here is bland, not much spice, too little garlic and yet, they
call it Italian. Portions small, service not very personal,
except when they bring the bill.

Again, we gave it a chance. Now, on to better SFO haunts!

Honestly, this is a GOOD restaurant and the staff and owner are
very nice. The food was GOOD, not great, as Zagat thought. But,
after reading all the reviews, and because 2 of our favorite resaurants
had gone out of business, we decided to try Milano.

However, while the owner is a real Italian, as was the waiter's
accent, they know little about how to cultivate and/or gain new
business. We had a slight problem, that grew.

It was our 37th wedding anniversary and, when I made the reservations
a few days ahead, I told the owner this. When we arrived, there
was no acknowlegement of it and the owner tried to put us in the
middle of several other quite close tables, like in a cafeteria.
I asked for a small, quiet table above and he gladly accomodated.

We ordered our food and the waiter asked if we'd like a glass
