Great food and atmosphere. Was there on business in June 2007. The atomosphere
was good, a little noisy, due to accoustics. A great treat for the history
buff.

A good place for a special evening out - for the atmosphere if not
the quality of the food. While the food is generally very good,
once in a while you will find something to keep it from being the
perfect meal. But the experience is well worth the price, and
I strongly recommend this stop to people visiting Philadelphia
and the historical district, although it should be noted that
this is not a "tourist" stop for the families with small tots.
The atmosphere is refined, but casual.

An excellent dining experience. The decor is 18th century and
the staff are in period attire. A nice stop for lunches or dinner.
For dinner, call ahead for reservations and ask for the large,
upstairs dining room and a table near one of the fireplaces. It
can be a very romantic spot. My girlfriend took me there for my
birthday two years ago and I still recall the wonderful meal.
The creme brulet is the best I've ever had (and that includes in
France! - I think the secret is the shallow, chilled pewter bowls).
The only complaint is the pricey wine list. A nice South African
Pinotage that wholesales for 5.99 was selling for $35! That is
taking advantage of customers and the owner should be embarassed.

A great place to take visitors to Philadelphia - authentic old
philadelphia look, interesting staff, good food. Also good
for special events.
