The Gin Mill was highly recommended to my husband and I. We finally
made it there last week, twice. The food and service were far the
best of any restaurant in Ellicottville, and we had been at most
of them. We try to come down from Toronto once a month and spend
the night on the town. We had the chicken wings the first night
and fish the next. Everything was cooked to perfection and the
service was fantastic. The only thing we were looking for to go
with our meals that they did not have was the Burning Asphalt hot
sauce that we had heard so much about. We saw it on television in
Toronto and understood it to be a local product. When we asked
the waitress, who was wonderful, she said they did not carry it.
At least not yet. A great place that anyone going to that area needs
to dine at!

A fun Bar in the winter never been their in summer. The wings rock
and the atmosphere is festiv. The service was great and the staff
seems to really care. A fun place to stop at for some beer and wings.

The Gin Mill is a great bar that does well with food on the limited
space that they have. I caught a glance of their kitchen and it
is very small - a broiler and a few fryers is all they have. The owners
appear to be very much involved and they have a specials board.
Their wings are the best in town and I see that they do a brisk take-out
business. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it is largely a bar.
Although they do have a few video games in the back for the kids.
As for the food, it is average, although their fish fry is very
good. They use cod from Iceland and I was told that the boat owner
or something like that frequents the Gin Mill! The food is cheap,
and the bar is smoke-free too.
