If you like a noisy, crowded place with rude waiters, stale bread and outrageous prices then this is your restaurant. As for the steak, I can name a dozen other places in nyc that are better. a total waste of money.

Amazing steak house. The famous sauce is delicious. The waiters are notoriously surly, but they get the job done. I highly recommend the bacon appetizer. Cash only. Reservations necessary.

Arguably the best steakhouse in the country, everyone who enjoys steak should make a pilgrimage to Peter Luger's. Although a bit expensive, it is absolutely worth it. Their steaks are fabulous, cooked to your liking; and the Porterhouse steak is legendary. The generous portions, side dishes, and service are top notch!

Great Steaks to say the least! This is a higher priced establishment but well worth the money! The portions, setting, staff and service are divine!

You would have to look long and hard to find a better steak than at this place. We were Boston and this place came highly recommended. So glad we tried it. Superb service. Pricey but well worth it. There are other things on the menu but everyone should concentrate on steak when at Peter Lugers.

Just left a review for this place and put Boston instead of Brooklyn. Am listing restaurants visited in my business travels and just finished Boston MA. Sorry don't want to do an injustice to Peter Luger Steaks.

The music, the food is the best thing. the restaurant says continually, Stay you don't go there is a surprise but and alone you that I should make it., I sometimes think of the whole affection that I have to the food that you/they serve. Naturally for their food they are the best.

As a kid 30 years ago I would go "but not very often" and enjoy a great steak, home fries, tomatoes with a special sauce and the famous cheezecake. I went back during leave from the Army and I got a flashback from the past! Still the best steak in New York by far. Steak tilted on a plate and juices running down...cant wait to go back on my next vacation and live that experience.

The best steak house in the city. Possibly the best in the United States. It's a little out of the way, but worth the trip. If you have the money of course. Reservations must be made far in advance.

Expensive restaurant, but the steaks are juicy, moist and flavorful, so much that you should be expecting the unusually high prices

Since there has been much said about Peter Luger's, I will try to add value and be brief. It has been voted the country's best steakhouse, and for good reason. It is simply the best steak and creamed spinach I've ever had. Is it true that the service is gruff? Yes. Is it true that they become even more gruff if you need to see a menu? Yes. Is it worth it? Absolutely. I've spent years going to New York's steakhouses, and this is the best. It'll cost you about $110 for two people - steak for two, creamed spinach, potatoes, and a few drinks.

Good steak, but long wait. I heard a lot about there steak sauce, but I think it's little more then cocktail sauce and worchester. The waiter was pretty good though. If you don't set your expectations too high you'll enjoy it.

This place lives up to all of teh hype. The steaks are fabulous, the waiters are bastards and I have not seen the host be nice to anyone. I dont know that it is far and away better than the midtown steakhouses, but the experience is great, with them bringing enourmous steaks out on sizzling platters, cut up for the whole table. Do not expect to get any entree other than steak.

Everyone should visit Peter Luger at least once in their life, and if they can afford it, more. The porterhouse is as tender as mashed potatoes, and the flavor is brilliant beyond belief. The beer-hall atmosphere only makes the steak taste better - too many steak houses look like 4-star french restaurants these days. Its nice to forget the tablecloths and just have a serious steak for steak lovers.
