Realizing that I am in the vast minority of diners, I think Peter Luger is perhaps the most over-rated restaurant in New York, if not the United States. The steak, which is slathered in butter(!), is good, but choice is limited to Steak for Two, Steak for Three, etc. If you want Filet or New York Strip you are in the wrong restaurant. Sides are mediocre. If you order anything but the steak, you'll find you're also in the wrong restaurant. Service is provided by older gentlemen, a quaint throwback, who sometimes have difficulty with their workload. Why Peter Luger is so popular is a mystery to me. See for yourself. But it's time everyone stopped lauding this incredibly mediocre mini-chain.

	May 22, 2000 Peter P. New York , New York 28 reviews Not as good as the one in Brooklyn. Very crowded, expecially on weekends. Valet parking. Large, juicy steak and great lobster dish. You don't have any room for dessert if you can finish the steak.
