Table service is slooooow. Don't go there on a hot day. Didn't have sushi, but overall on the bland side for this palate. Call it California-Japanese.

Location is good and so is the food. On of the freshest fish as ingredients which accounted for the good taste. Has a nice proportion of fish to the rice. Owner is friendly and greets you with a big smile. Value for money deal.

With sushi as good as Higuma's, this is a very fun place with a small group of people, but as mentioned before, sit at the bar. Not just because the table service is slow, but the guys working up there are pretty hilarious at times. I have seen quite a few regulars there, and they usually add some excitement. The selection of sushi is pretty standard though.

This is pretty much the only sushi restaurant we frequent any more since it has always been excellent. Mike (the owner) is very friendly, always remembers us & stops by to chat if it's not too busy. The best hamachi around!!!!

Monday night "all you can eat" sushi special ($25) is good, and unique in that you order the sushi directly from the chef, not off of a mass prepared plate. Proportion of rice to fish is good towards the fish side. The portions in general are big (rolls are well in proportion to the price). Last Call, Bob's Roll, Poki Roll (num!), and Hamachi Roll are among the must try's. Other japanese fare we've sampled is good, but sometimes a bit oily. Genji (Mike) the owner is great, and always has a special dish prepared for us. Chefs Henry and Sato have been there for quite a while, and do an excellent job a preparing the sushi. The two or three waitresses are quite busy, and sometimes overworked. (Pete, what do you mean there are no Japanese employees there?!) Monday nights can be very busy. BIG WORDS OF CAUTION: Do your best to sit at the bar if you're ordering sushi! Service can be VERY slow at the tables with sushi. Overall, one of the best sushi bars in the RC/MP/PA area. Remarkably average at best. I have eaten here several times as it's location is convenient. Iwouldn't say it is bad, I just wouldn't say it's good.

I go to Bonsai for the sushi. It is excellent!! The owner, Mike, is there every evening with a warm smile, and friendly greeting (Not the loud shouting, like some other sushi places). He always has the freshest fish. (He supplies fish to many other sushi restaurants in the area) There are two regular sushi chefs, and when it is called for Mike is behind the counter preparing sushi. The atmosphere is always wonderful. Mike says he gets 90% repeat business. I think that speaks very highly for this restaurant, or any other restaurant.
