Had a reservation at 7, only to find out that it wasn't ready. went to the bar, and the bartender is practically yelling at me since i can't decide what to drink! finally got a table, and this place has no music, until i mentioned it to the waiter. food took forever, had lamb, small amounts of meat lots of fat. ordered pinot noir-hang time, nice but took forever, were they short staffed? the place looks cool and old school, but the service and management will make me never visit again or recommend to anyone.

Exceptional atmosphere defiantly I enjoyed the views. Service

was good attractive waitresses to a general good experience

I would probably go back again before choosing another restaurant.

Wel, with the exception of the large chunk of the menu that was dedicated to seafood of one type or another (can't complain too much, asfter all I'm on an island!), I was very impressed with what I got there. This should be a restaurant for couples. The decor and atmosphere is tasteful and elegant, while having eenough ambience to relax the guest, without lulling them into thinking that the surroundings are gaudy or pretentious. The handmade pasta is a nice touch. I had pasta primavera with scaloppini, and they were both heavenly. When I go back to Hawai'i, I WILL visit here again.

Italian cuisine served with art pieces around. They make their own pasta. They have good vegetarian specials and a wide selection of wine. The service was great and the prices aren't that outrageous. The food was good too.

I have to disagree with the majority of the previous reviews of this restaurant. I've only eaten here once (I've only been to Hawaii once) and I found the food to be excellent. One reviewer was bothered by all the attention of the wait staff. I think they treat every customer like they are royalty and I think it's great. Why not be treated like a King or Queen once in your life? Others have complained that it's too dark, that's called atmosphere, it's great, every restaurant should have some, especially on those very special romantic nights with your loved one at your side. I found no trouble reading the menu, the waiter turned up the table lighting for us to do so. Others have complained that the restaurant is overpriced or too expensive. Wake up an smell the coffee, your in Hawaii where breakfast for two at MacDonald's could cost you $20.00. If you want inexpensive then don't go to Hawaii where EVERYTHING except pineapple is shipped in.

Have eaten at Matteo's twice, and on both occasions found it overpriced and humorously pretentious. Prices are based on the over-blown decor, not the quality of the food. Sevice was fine on my first visit, but only so-so on the second. I don't intend to try Matteo's a third time.

This is a good Italian restaurant but it is much too expensive. The service is good (I commend them on their ability to navigate through such dim corridors). Overall, a good experience but plan on spending some dough.

Everyone in our party ordered a different dish with each one being better than the one before. You just can't seem to go wrong with anything you decide. To be quite honost, it would be a mistake not to dine here at least once during your holiday. Food and staff is superb.

my experience of this restaurant was the total opposite of the previos reviewer, I have dined at Matteos three times, once in 1989 and twice in 1998. The restaurant is little bit dark, but I found it atmospheric with good seating and tropical fish tanks. the last time I went the waiter prepared a caesar salad at the table, I had a mixed seafood dish with angel hair pasta, all I can say is "bellisimo"

The food was'nt that good. I got sick when I got home after eating the fettuccine escargo. The service was too much bothering and It was too dark in the restaraunt. I stumped my foot on the table. But the worst part was being sick. And everything on the menu was so expensive. Compared to their food, eating out of a trash can would work better with my digestive system. My friend agrees too. She had the seafood lasagna and she got the runs. I definitely don't recommend this place to dine at.
