FISH TACO- was and still is my favorite item there. The price can be lower though, driving all the way from San Antonio to get my fix gets costly :P ... Every time I have been there it's a pretty long wait just for the tacos, the anticipation kills me each time. I could order other things but I dont see the point. They charge too much. Back in 1997 it was overpriced and still is.

My dining companion disagreed with me, but I'm writing the review, so my opinion prevails (for now!) The Taco Al Pastor, grilled pork and pineapple chunks, is served with a bright green sauce billed as avocado. Substantial and spicy overall, the fruit was an interesting counterpoint when dressed with the sauce that was more tomatillo-like. The mushroom taco was plain, but the excellent red salsa livened it up and I added crunch by forking in some of the salad that was the base for the ceviche. Very good snapper ceviche with lots of tartness in the lime juice and judicial amounts of fresh jalapeno and cilantro. The major black mark involves ordering the waiter-recommended margarita without being told of it's exorbitant $8.50 pricetag---not only that, what should have been fresh squeezed lime juice tasted suspiciously like lemonade.

This place is great. Not Tex-Mex, closer to Mexican (which is hard to find in Austin. Try the shrimp.

This place was actually not bad for Tex-Mex. I got an honest meal and at good price with excellent service. It is very popular but we only waited for 10 minutes during peak dinnertime.

You will not be disappointed by ordering from the high end dishes. The pork cooked in a banana leaf is my favorite. It is kind of a interior Mexican version of bbq. My husband likes the fish - always fresh and the sauce with tomato, capers and olives complements it nicely. On the low end, they have a very different version of tacos al carbon with pineapple I like.

Great, affordable Tex-Mex in South Austin. If you like Tex-Mex, go there.
