Very good restaurant with great food and a good atmosphere. This is
a good little sister to the Mandarin Gourmet in Cupertino and San Jose.
I actually like the Cupertino restaurant the best but this is a good
second choice.

My favorite Chinese Restaurant on the peninsula. Very
sophisticated setting with cuisine to match. We probably
dine here at least 5 times each month for lunch or dinner
and have never been disappointed.
So much so, that we try something different each time we
go.
Order anything, it is excellent, service is excellent,
Ambience is excellent.

The best Chinese food I've eaten in the entire bay area (and
I've eaten everywhere from Marin to San Jose).
The restaurant itself is beautiful, but more importantly,
the food is exquisite.
Start with the poo poo platter appetizer--where you cook
your own skewers.
Don't miss the salt and pepper shrimp--I'm not even a shrimp
lover, but when another in my party ordered this, I had to
order some for myself, it's simply incredible with the
shrimp having a buttery taste and texture I've never
experienced before or since.
The tangarine beef is crispy and delicious, the lemon
chicken is also special.
I live in Marin, and I drive to Palto Alto just for this
restaurant--it's that good.

As good as Chinese gets in this area. I've been eating Chinese in the
area for almost 40 years.
Hangen is not bad but they serve the worst mu shi wrappers I've ever
eaten!
I long for Andy's, old House of Yee and old Qui Hing Lo on Castro Street.

Boring, bland food in an "expensive" atmosphere -- a worthy little
sibling of its neighbor, Star's. I've eaten at Mandarin Gourmet three
or four times now, but I've always been disappointed with their value
for money. Actually, I don't think I would return even if they
lowered their price -- with the abundance of excellent Chinese
restaurants in the area, I simply see no particular reason to frequent
this one. Go to China Delight around the corner on Emerson instead.
You'll have an excellent meal for a fraction of the cost and quite
good service too.

WOW!!! The most incredible/best chinese food i have ever
had. The food was soooo good that i am willing (and have
already done) to drive to Palo Alto whenever I crave chinese
food. Just as good as the food is the service! Overall,
Mandaring Gourmet is an excellent restaurant.

My favorite downtown Chinese restaurant. They run the A/C a little
high so bring a sweater. The food is good and they seem to carry some
of the less commonplace chinese entrees in addition to standards.

The classiest Chinese restaurant on the Palo Alto area with
prices to match.
On a recent visit the Honey Walnut Prawns and the Mixed
Seafood in a Potato Nest were very good; the Imperial Soup and
Lemon Chicken less so. It is best to order from the
House Specialties at the beginning of the menu.
