This place rocks! Admittedly I've only been there for lunch, not dinner, but I've eaten there dozens of times and always had very good food with excellent service. Their lunch buffet is very reasonable and has a great variety. Every once in a while there is something missing that we crave and by simply asking, it's delivered to our table within minutes at no charge. We only go there about once per month but the waitstaff always remembers us and treats us great (remember, be nice to staff!).

Excellent affordable mexican food! This is the best mexican I've had in Lansing and they also deliver. Their breakfast burrito's are also terrific.

Since my previous review, i have seen that the e. lansing and the location near oldsmobile have closed. At the time of my last review, i did not know there was a s. cedar location and have only recently seen a famous taco in a small strip-type location west of the lansing mall. If anyone from the area can help, it would be good to know the current open locations and if they are all affiliated with the original famous taco. Thanks.

I used to frequent Famous Taco when they were in downtown Lansing when I attended MSU. It was then, and remains now, in it's 2 new locations (no longer in the downtown Lans. location), some of the most authentic and tastee mexican cuisine around. They have a shredded beef wet burrito that will bring you back time and time again. The portions are generous, to say the least. Locations in Lansing and East Lansing. Very casual, authentic atmosphere, in general. When I travel to Lansing, ,I try to make it a point to stop, it's well worth it!!

As far as mexican cuisine is concerned this is probably my most frequent stop. They have what you want if you have a craving for mexican. What makes it even better is its as fast and convient as all the standard fast food joints, but you get what you were looking for. And yes their nachos are that good.

They have very authentic food and it taste great. I highly recommend the nacho deluxe. This is the first place I go when I want Mexican food. They also have awsome rost beef taco's and the cheese they use on there taco's is the best

AFTER READING OTHER REVIEWS, I DISAGREE WITH THE PRICE REVIEW. THE PRICES ARE COMPARABLE TO ANY OTHER MEXICAN FOOD RESTAURANT IN THE AREA AND THE FOOD IS BETTER THAN MOST ALL. THE FOOD IS VERY AUTHENTIC AND THEY HAVE THE BEST, DIFFERENT NACHOS IN MICHIGAN. I LOVE MEXICAN FOOD AND CAN COOK MEXICAN FOOD AND THEIRS IS THE BEST IN TOWN. THE RESTAURANT IS SMALL AND COMFY WITH PLENTY OF PARKING AVAILABLE. THEY HAVE DAILY SPECIALS ALL DAY IF PRICE IS YOUR PROBLEM. THE PORTIONS ARE EQUAL TO THE PRICES.

Famous Taco has been around Lansing for many years in various locations. This spot on S. Cedar street is in a small strip mall with lots of parking -- and right next to the south precinct police station so drive carefully! This is a small, casual dining establishment that also does a lot of takeout business (delivery also available). If you order takeout, check your order before you leave. Several times I've opened up my takeout bag after arriving home only to find someone else's order inside! The nachos are done differently than most Mexican restaurants in the area -- very large corn chips, with lots of refried beans, ground beef, and cheese, but very tasty with the jalapeno's (which are optional) and salsa (available in hot or mild). Good quacamole. I feel that the food is a bit pricey for the quality of most items. But portions are generous and they are usually quite busy during the early evening hours. If you don't care for refried beans with your entree, ask for "double rice, no beans" and they'll be glad to accomodate you.
