Kyoto Japanese Restaurant

This is the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to, including the ones in San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Houston, Tampa, Miami, Dallas, Kansas City, Memphis, Austin, Salt Lake City, and Newark (in no particular order). The printed sushi menu is limited from a standpoint of rolls (although if you know what you like in a roll, they can make it) and could use a couple of other fish choices, but what they offer is the best anywhere. The owner has owned similar restaurants in Miami, San Antonio, and Seattle (and others...but I can't remember) and he brings his superior skills to lil' ol' Stillwater. I no longer live in STillwater, but I still make the 45 minute drive for his tuna and his yellowtail. No kidding, the very, very best of Japanese food (he also has hibachi tables and a menu). However, the atmosphere isn't that great, and the table service is lacking for some reason. But those knocks pale in comparison to what comes from the kitchen and sushi bar ... more
