Jack's suggestion that my comment about the tea was "idiotic" is his own right, but MY tea that I was served that day DID look like pondwater. I couldn't see through it, it was dull and tasted horrible, like the bottom of the barrel. But he is right, there is certainly nothing special about their tea, and mine was bad. Now I have since learned that John and Sandy Smith are spending their winter in Florida, that they had indeed seen my letter that I sent to the restaurant, and, as Joyce finally informed me, they "set it aside". This tells me that they truly do NOT care about their customers or their dining experience. Also my comment about $13 a plate for lunch is, I feel, relevant. I don't know of any other place in Farmington that demands that price for LUNCH! They all have lunch specials. I can see paying that for dinner, for all you can eat, but LUNCH??!! I stand firmly behind my comments, the particular lunch that I was served had BAD tea, FISH TAILS ... more

Contrary to the opinion of the first reviewer, The food at the Kettle is not the problem. The food is very good. I have eaten many a piece of fish from the kettle and very few have tasted "fishy." I go to the kettle for their chicken though, it us the best chicken in the semo area. As for the "13 dollars for a plate" comment, it is 13 dollars for all you can eat. The comment about the tea is idiotic considering there is nothing special about their tea, it is just your standard tea. What i do agree on is the service. Joyce Lix needs to retire. She is to the point of near senile. She alone ruins my dining experience at the kettle. A lot of people i have talked to agree. She has no business waiting tables, NONE! She also needs to go home to use the restroom. A female acquaintance of mine went into the restroom after her and said that she almost threw up from the horrid smell. How embarrassed i would be if i were john and sandy smith, who have always ran a tight ship bu ... more

Won't go back! Please note, the better reviews were pre-2006. This restaurant isn't what it used to be. The tea looks like pondwater, and the fish is rubbery. I sent mine back and asked for "fresh" fish. The waitress talked to me like she was a car dealer. "These are fish tails" she said, "most people PREFER these!" Are you KIDDING me!!??? FISHTAILS!?? My "fish" was thin, hard, rubbery and had no real meat in the breading. Just skin. Probably was just fishtails, but you're not going to convince me that people prefer THAT!? And the price is THIRTEEN dollars for a plate. NOT what I want to pay for fishtails. The price is bad, the fish is not good, the tea is nasty, and the tablecloth is sticky. Do you really wanna go there and pay $13 a plate for that? Not me! I live in Farmington, and I've gone to Catfish Kettle many times before, but I'll not go back now. I don't have to be talked to like I'm stupid, and I sure don' ... more

THE ATMOSPHERE AND SERVICE ARE EXCEPTIONAL. I AM NOT A FISH EATER AND EVEN THOUGH THEY OFFER CHICKEN, IT OFTEN TASTES LIKE IT IS COOKED IN THE SAME OIL AS THE FISH. THEIR SIDE DISHES ARE GREAT AND NO ONE SHOULD LEAVE THERE HUNGRY.

The best catfish in the world is fried here. The service is fast and friendly. Down home atmosphere. All you can eat or by the plate. Chicken and shrimp are served, too.
