This is a good place to stop for lunch.
The food is good although it can get a bit loud at peak hours

Two words best describe Cafe Continental - consistantly good!
We have visited this spot six times in the past 3 months and have
NEVER been disappointed. It's a Madison restuarant with a downtown
Chicago feel at a more reasonable price. The menu is varied and
ranges from pizza or polenta (three variations!) to wonderful
specials such as lamb shank or fabulous fish offerings. The service
is friendly and non-obtrusive - the ambiance and decor is city-like
- there's just enough background noise to keep energy high but
not disrupt an intimate conversation. It's a great gathering
place with great food - what else is needed?

Great food. A little noisy at lunch. The decor is plush and quite
lovely. I love the ceramic tile floors. The food is very inventive
and delicious. Garlic is used to MY satisfaction, lots! With
dinner, the frenzy of lunch disappears. The coffee truffle ice
cream is decadent and wonderful.

We went for dinner and were pleasantly impressed. Rabbit
schnizel (though they didn't call it that) with sweet sauce
was a knockout, and was perfectly matched to a Riesling from
the southernmost vineyard in New Zealand. Salads were hearty
and interesting. This is a bistro place and doesn't reach the
heights of L'Etoile but succeeds admirably at what it attempts,
a wide-ranging cuisine. A fun place. The prices seemed
eminently fair to me for what you get. You often get a lot less
at a Northern California bistro for the same price.

Mainly a business lunch spot, Cafe Continental doesn't have
the menu to draw the upper-crust like say, Magnus just around
the corner, or the Opera House. The menu is well rounded but a little
over-priced. A decor-driven establishment and it shows.
