I was just remembering the great places I have eaten. Dubuque came to
mind, and Pusateri's came to the forefront. I haven't been
in Dubuque since 1968, when Pusateri's was located on what my CD
map shows as Dodge Street, toward what was then the west edge of town.
I remember eating there as I frequently traveled to the area from Des
Moines. My favorite menu item was the $5.95 lasagna dinner. It included
salad, fresh warm bread, and that fabulous individual serving of piping
hot, fresh baked lasagna, with the five delicious layers, each with
it's unique type of cheese. The flavors, the ambience, and the
service drew me back time after time.
I hadn't thought of Dubuque in years, but now that I have, I sincerely
hope that someday I will be able to drive from Kansas City, to visit again
and share the best lasagna I have ever eaten with the one I love.
Dubuque ... a picturesque river town, with one extremely fine Italian
restaurant.
