Pippins was the very first restaurant I visited when I first returned from living in Germany. My husband is from the general area and has a lot of favorites here (which are not always mine, I've found). This place was pretty good, I must admit. Since Boyne City merchants often make their main money during tourist season, Pippins shuts down for part of the winter months. We visited at the end of summer when it was quiet. The restaurant has its own parking lot, and there was ample parking. The place is very well lit and has a spacious feel to it. Personnel there were very outgoing and friendly and brought us beverages and appetizers very quickly. Pippins serves mainly American fare, from burgers to steaks. There's also fish offered, obligatory in Northern Michigan. I had a simple stacked sandwich which was very tasty, and my husband ate a HUGE salad which he liked very much.
