You won't know it by looking at the place, but this is as good a seafood as you'll ever eat. If I didn't know better, I would have driven right past the place...the name says it all "shack." My wife and I ordered the seafood combo for two. OMG was there a lot of food. Our choice of fish, plus shrimp, scallops, oysters and clams. Hush puppies and four sides came with the meal (the collard greens were out of this world). As you have read, the meal comes with plastic utensils and on styrofoam plates. It doesn't matter. The setting is on the St John's River and from the outside you see all the fishing boats out doing their thing, plus all the birds looking for an easy meal. Every so often the ferry boat makes a run. We got to watch the sun set over the water. It was gorgeous. Back to the meal...I've never seen that much food before and like I said, it was the combo for two. Four could have easily been fed with it all. The plate literally weighed several pounds. I expected the worst when the bill came, but we got fed, including dessert and a couple of beers for me for $49 (which does include the tip). If you're in the Jacksonville or Jax beaches area, you owe it to yourself to try Singleton's.

Great food, lots of fried items . They will also cook your fresh catch if you come in off a fishing trip with your own fish.

Singleton's Seafood Shack is just that, a shack. But, the food is incredible and the seafood is the freshest in town. Located in the heart of the historic mayport district, the shrimp boats are practically on the same dock as the outside patrons. The food is served on styrofoam plates and they give you plastic utensils, but that lowers the cost on such great seafood. The best seafood in Jacksonville!!!
