My wife and I tried the early bird here yesterday. We have probably eaten at about 20 different Japanese Steakhouse's in several different cities. We liked most of them and went back many times. Kanpai of Tokyo was the worst and we will never go back. First, the soup served was very bland, almost tasteless. Then there was the salad. Every Japanese steakhouse has ginger dressing on their salad unless you ask for something else. Not Kanpai, all they offer is something that's mostly mayo. Yech! Other Japanese steakhouse's offer a rib-eye steak cooked the way you want it on the early-bird. Kanpei offers a cheap marinated cut cooked well done and tasteless. Everywhere else fried rice is included, Kanpai charges $1.95 extra for it. I will say the shrimp were good but I never will go back tere.

This is a great restaurant. It is amazing to see the show the cooks put on while they prepare your meal. Hope you know how to eat with chop sticks. But if you do not, forks are provided.

A very entertaining dining experience. The service is stellar and the portions incredibly generous. It tends to be on the pricey side, but the entertainment value watching your meal being prepared more than makes up for it. It's a very good restaurant for a first date.

I've eaten at Kanpai on serveral occasions and liked everyone of them. It had a very nice environment and I was quite impressed with the chefs. I am planning to attend Kanpai for prom and hopefully it'll be just as exciting. It is a great place to go if you are having a bad day because the show with the knives and all the food is so uplifting and amazing.

While some think that the prices are a bit high, I can guarantee you that you are paying for quality food, excellent service, and the best chefs.
