The food was standard. It is put out there as a fresh seafood restaurant,
but the shrimp tasted frozen. A little more pricey than was warranted
for the portion size. It may have been the time of year that we visited,
but I was not impressed. I didn't feel like it lived up to all
the hype.

Good Calabash style Seafood.
If you enjoy fried seafood, it is a great option in Morehead City.
Located on the Morehead Waterfront, an evening at the Sanitary
is best when coupled with a nice stroll along the boardwalk.
It's a paper napkin and fork only kind of place, but the food
is Calabash at it's best.

As with all the seafood places here if you go for lunch the prices
are lower. But well worth the $ anytime. Great food and service,
not to mention the view. The seafood always tastes fresh and the
shrimp is excellent (my favorite). Ample portions and always
plenty of hushpuppies!

As a child, we visited Morehead each summer and my father always
brought us here at least once. I always cried because I hated it
so much. Now, however, I am the Dad......and I DO enjoy Tony's
as much as my father did. The cold boiled shrimp is about as good
as you will ever find them. The key lime pie is also a must. On the
way OUT of the restaurant, PLEASE stop and buy a box of salt water
taffy. Though I am not a taffy fan, I still buy it and remember my
childhood. This restaurant is as historical a landmark as you
will find. If you have never been there, GO. WAIT in line....there
WILL be one in the summer. Stand there in line complaining and
WAIT. You'll be glad you did.

Since 1938 Sanitary Restaurant and Fish Market has been the Restaurant
on the Morehead City Waterfront. Boat accessable and ample free
parking is available. A full line of seafood entrees, boiled,
broiled, fried, and steamed is offered. Cold plates and combination
platters are on the menu also. The absolute best hush puppies
and sweetened ice tea served. Excellant desserts include cobblers,
key lime pie, and lemon merengue pie. Sanitary Restaurant is
a land mark seeing decades of returning World War Two Veterans
and their families, vacationers, anglers, and regional celebrities,
as well as, native Carolinians. Mr. John Tunnel has greeted each
guest and remembers the guest's name, home and state, and career
field.

Probably the most famous restaurant in the area. I've eaten there
many times and it's always been fresh and tasty. I especially
like the fried shrimp and hush puppies.

I stop here every time i am in morehead city. the food is always
good and plenty of it and the wait staff is great, plus i see a new
photo of a president or celebrity on the wall (there must be thousands
of photos) and the registry throughout the years are neat to look
at. Its got character plus its boat accessible just dock and eat.
