Slightly better than average eastern NC barbecue....but I cannot STAND the interior of this place! People are packed inside like sardines! Personally, I don't like being so close to the table next to you that if you move in your chair, you feel like you need to apologize to the person you just bumped.

First, let me say "The food is really great". Unfortunately, there are several problems that combine to make the meal "good" instead of "fantastic". 1. Parking.....or lack thereof. 2. Space. The restaurant is jam packed with tables/chairs. SO crowded!!! 3. Noise. There are so many people in the wide open room that noise can be a serious problem. 4. Smoke. It is everywhere. Since the building is so "wide open", even the non smoking areas are stale. In a larger space with a better planned interior, I would give this restaurant TWICE the stars!

John's Barbeque is a really great restrant. Their seafood is excellent! The food is great and reasonably priced. Although it is clean, my family usually doesn't eat in because it doesn't have the greatest atmosphere and decor. Other than that, I think it is one of the best restaurants in the area.

Fast service. Wonderful seafood and BBQ. Their hush puppies are great and their BBQ is the best in Southern Pines. Clean and roomy. Parking can be a bit of a problem at peak hours. Smoking and non smoking sections. They will meet any request if they can. This comes in handy when you take younger kids who don't care for spicey BBQ or seafood.

John's Barbeque is known to us locals as "our place." More and more tourists and golfers are finding this little diamond in the rough. The food is excellent. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is courteous and fast. The only downside to the restaurant would be the lighting. It's just too bright! There's not enough dark corners or unobtrusive booths to snuggle up to your mate after a romantic dinner. Other than that, I highly suggest this local favorite!

This is a family owned and operated restaurant, and that shows up in the quality of the food and service! The menu is not only extensive, but very reasonably priced. They have the best NC style chopped BBQ, great seafood, and awesome homemade desserts!
