Although many Charlotteans worried that this culinary mainstay's
move to South End would affect its comfortable feel and flavorful
food, it was all for naught. Since the move, it's improved.
Order a margarita and wait for a table on the outdoor patio. The
food, while not authentic Mexican, is hearty and doesn't
disappoint. Appetizer selection includes all the basics like
guacamole, chili con queso, black bean soup and jalapeno poppers.
Lunches are quick and cheap, and not so large that you'll
have to pull a George Costanza nap underneath your desk when you
get back to the office. Most entrees come with rice and beans on
the side, and chips and salsa are presented at each table upon
seating. Don't forget to try the cheese dip and guacamole
with your chips and as a topping for your entrees. Be sure to order
one of La Paz's legendary margaritas. Among the choices:
the La Pazarita, made with Sauza Hornitos, Cointreau and La Paz's
special margarita ...

This is one of the best mexican places around... The salsa is the
best different from what you are use to but SO much better! I come
for the salsa and chips... Thought the price is average for what
you get and the food is excellent.

My family has eaten here for years. It is hard to find real, authentic
Mexican food in the South, and this is the closest we have found.
It's nothing like San Diego, but what the heck.) THE CHEESE
ENCHILADAS ARE GRRRRRRRRRREAT! Thumbs up!

This restaurant is great for a late afternoon hang out, happy
hour, drinks, etc. They have incredible martinis and a wonderful
patio area. The food is pretty good; nothing outstanding, but
they have excellent chicken nachos, and the salsa is really good.
It is upscale for a Mexican place. I would definitely recommend
it.

La Paz Cantina & Restaurante really suprised me. Mexican
is not one of my favorite foods so I was hesitant to eat there. I
ordered fajita's and munched patiently on chips and salsa
while I waited. The salsa was excellent. Additionally, the wait
wasnt long and I set about to eat. With the first bite, I realized
what I had been missing. This food was really good; made a maexican
food lover out of me (as long as it is at this restaurant).
