The Cottage has always been one of my favorite restaraunts. My family and I have spent several special occassions there. The seafood is always fresh and their dishes full of flavor, and the location is great. Now, since they've remodeled, I love it there even more! They've turned a very rustic looking old building into a very elegant atmosphere, complete with new menus and an extended wine list. I reccomend the lobster bisque, one of the reasons many customers stop in for lunch. The broiled dishes are delicious, and the batter they use for fried dishes is one of the best I've ever had. The lobster meat au gratin is one of my personal favorites, and they always seem to be doing something creative with their salmon specials. I've also had one of the best pina coladas i've ever tasted there. i'll admit that every restaraunt has its bad days and that there may have been an occassion i'd stopped in where a few things weren't up to par, but that's to be expected when lines are running out the door and the parking lot is jam packed... Every party i've had there was excellent, the service wonderful, and the seafood some of the freshest i've ever had.

my grandparents brought me here when i was a child. i always liked the food.you cant find fresher seafood.the wait staff is awsome. and they never rush you, they treat you like an uncle.its not uncommon for four or five waitresses to come by and have alittle chat.they have good steaks, chichen and pasta, but the best is the fish.especially the broiled lobster. they also have clams, oysters, soft shell clams and the best fried shrimp i ever had. oh yeah they make good coctails too. also the view is spectacular overlooking the bay.

I moved to the area around this resturant when I was 6. I left home in 1977, returning to the area in 1979 then leaving for good in 1981. I have been back many times. Somehow the Ye Cottage Inn seem to be able to parlay it's wonderful location and decour a half step over a diner to fortune for years? How? Well the great sea food resturants of the Highlands are 1/2 hour away, but right on rt. 36 there are much better resturants, although they do not have the wonderful setting of this place. The food ranges from ok to awful. If you dont want to drive, or if you think Mrs. Pauls makes gourmet food (I suspect thats just who makes the food here) by all means go. If not then I sugest that you go to the rude place across the street with take out only, no credit cards, limited hours, and the best damm fried fish you can get, and sit on a bench overlooking the bay and Keyport harbor.
