I use to walk from Bradley street to get a lunch pie with friends. The meatball is best around and well ---- I'm getting hungry just standing there at the counter while out of teh corner of my left eye I see one za after another getting loaded up ... I have more fun seeing those pies getting loaded into the oven while I'm paying --- I usually order my next pie based on what I like seeing going into the oven. And their rootbeer? I love the rootbeer with the sausage and peppers. You can have pepe's, spot, sally's, bar, etc... I'll take modern as my death row meal

I first went to Modern apizza in 2000 while working on a project in Milford NJ, A friend told me to try it instead of Frank Pepe's . I did and now as often as possible My Family and I drive 4hrs down to New Haven from Maine JUST to have Modern Apizza. It's worth the drive :-)

If you need a good pizza/calzone quick, go to Modern's. Usually good service and fast, especially at lunch time. They have food other than pizza. The calzones are amazing.

If you want a red pie, this is the best there is, definitely outshining Pepe's. Pepe's has the edge on the white clam. Usually good service and fast, especially at lunch time.

They have really good pizza, but not quite as good as Pepe's. They do outshine Pepe's in two areas: they have no wait, and they have food other than pizza. The calzones are amazing.
