WE went in with a party of 12 and we were all disappointed. It took
almost two hours to get a main course. The salads they brought
out to us did not have the right dressing on over 50% of them. When
we finally did get our meals half were only luke warm, and mine
also tasted reheated. The waitress we had was so so she was unfriendly
and did not keep us informed as to what was going on with our entree's.
We returned one entree, which was there pizza, it came to the
table black! They took the pizza off the bill, but charged us 18%
gratuity. 18% is usually reserved if you get two waitresses.
We only had one waitress and our party was split into two tables.
And the main courses DID NOT make up for any of this. The flavor
of everything was below average. I've had better food at
pizza hut.

For excellent italian cuisine in southern vermont, Garlic John's
is it! I've only recently been able to sample the wine list
which does nothing to detract, but enhances the wonderful food!
My personal fav is the veal parmisean. Their ministrone is to
die for, even better than mine!

Now under new ownership, i have no idea what they did with the receipes,
but its all good! the marinara with BAM! They now offer fresh clam
sauce, both white and red, with clams they get fresh daily from
the maine coast. while this was never my favorite, it certainly
is getting to be one!
Magnificent escarole, and what seems to be a fully revamped wine
list....mana from heaven!

The first time I enjoyed garlic john's, was on my 5th birthday,
and i've been coming back ever since. even though the restaurant
has changed hands since they first opened in the '70's,
when not harried, the food is exempalary. service is fast and
friendly with honest evaluations when asked. all food is cooked
to order, so don't get upset if your meal takes a little bit
of time to prepare...some of my fondest memories of garlic john's
include going there for every birthday, and sampling my father's
brandy soaked cigar when smoking was allowed.

Good, but not great. I had received high recommendations for
this restaurant, but found I wasn't really impressed. The
food wasn't worth the price they charge for it.
