This is a great place to eat, ask for a window overlooking the water! Super food, good service. I've enjoyed it every time I've gone there. Seniors love the place.

I have been an employee at Backstreet for 4 years. We keep everything looking clean and new. Our cooks, and Owner/Chef Julie Adams, is spectacular, not only to work for, but to encounter. The view is very pleasant to digest while enjoying your entree. We serve fresh chicken, fish, red meats, and vegetarian food. The appetizers are to die for, and we have a wide variety of drinks we serve whether it be alcoholic, or non alcoholic. The waitstaff and kitchen crew are stupendous. Our dining room manager, and hostess, Diane is always cheerful, and can brighten anyones day. I, too, am a hostess. I started dishwashing and then moved my way to busing, then to waitstaff, and now hostessing. I really recommend this restaurant to anyone who happens to be in the Damariscotta/Newcastle area, not only because I work there, and am dedicated to the place, but because everyone there is so considerate of the customers, and because of the great food that gets served.

Very pretty, sparkling clean restuarant. Nice views of the bay. The food is excellent - fresh and well prepared. the service is fine and we always stop there when we head to northern Maine. Food is basically seafood with good clams, fish etc. Great for lunch and dinner.
