As a beer snob, I always make it a point to drink local brews when I travel. What I've consistently found in every microbrewery I've visited is good beer and good food, sometimes bordering on great. Big River meets the criteria. They had regular featured beers and one special, an Irish Red. Sampled all but the light beer for the American beer drinker in the crowd (although they do serve Bud Light-I prefer and respect microbreweries who only serve their products).
Food is good, prices are reasonable. I had a featured appetizer, shrimp in an Irish Red Ale batter. There were 20+ medium sized shrimp for $8.95.
A unique feature of Big River that I haven't found elsewhere is the glassware. Instead of the usual pint glasses, they use a fluted glass with a .40 l mark on the glass. This feature, reminicent of European countries, requires beer to be poured up to that mark, to ensure that you get what you pay for and not too much foam.
Go to the Big River whether you're a native or not.

excellent food. located close to the Titans stadium and the Arena it's a great place to go before the game. the filet was dynamite and the service we had was very good. maybe a little pricey but sometimes you have to treat yourself and this is the place to do it. excellent for taking groups to.

For a brewpub, it's pretty good. Their beer is decent (Red beer is by far the best) and they have cask beer (holiday porter on cask is to die for!) Their sandwiches are very good, but haven't tried too many entrees. They have 4 pool tables that are rarely busy, and the pool is cheap. They have music on the weekends and it's been good half the time. A good date atmosphere, and right downtown. A nice place to start an evening downtown.

The food is good and everything I have had was served in ample portions. The country fried steak was so large you couldn't even see the mashed potatoes under it. Service is always good and it's usually not crowded at lunch. Club sandwich is better than average.

I felt the wait staff was good but the prices are a little high for the amount and quality of the food. It was also quite noisy so dont expect a romantic outing at this place.

The best beer in Nashville. Unfortunately no one gives it the proper credit. The food is what I would call above average, it's not going to knock your socks off and make you rub your belly in delight, but it will make you smack your lips a little.

Slip out of downtown and into the Big River. Not bad for a "chain" brewpub. Their appetizers are varied and are all pretty tasty (soft pretzels and mustard are my fave). Pork chops marinated in apple juice is the best entree. Front patio is open for those who want to be seen, and there are a few pool tables beside the bar for those who want a little more privacy.

Unusual menu items, a little pricy for what you get, not bad, but the place seems to have an attitude. I have been to visit 7 times in two years. If you don't expect your service to be excellent, you will like your food and not be disappointed elsewhere.

This place had pretty good food. The service was not all that great.. but just might have been the waitress. I went one other time and it was pretty good. I would recommend it.
