I got the combo plate. I would rate the food at just OK. The place
brags about their huge granite smoker and how long they slow cook
their meats. Well, the beef I had was so tuff that it could of been
used by the guitar player for a neck strap if it had been a little
longer!!! Does anyone know how to cook brisket in KC? I am tired
of taking a bite out of a beef sandwich and the next thing all the
meat is hanging down over my chin! The only reason to come here
is for the great Blues music.

Not one of the best eating establishments in KC (BQ) but a must
go for entertainment! One of the best Blues and Jazz joints in
town!

It is a blues bar and the BBQ is good but not the best. This is Kansas
City though so the competition is tough for bbq. Definately has
the best blues entertanment in the area which is saying alot too.
Kansas City knows its blues.

The reviewer above, (Scott), obviously is NOT a purveyor of the
better Barbeque joints in the KC area...As BB's Lawnside is just
this side of A W F U L....
These cretins wouldn't know how to smoke a set of ribs, pork or
beef - if you or I were to draw out the instructions for them.
This is a tavern, disguised as a restaurant. With the idea of a
dining establishment - being only that - an idea.
This placed specializes in bringing some of the better Blues
Bands
in the Midwest, into Kansas City - but they'd be well advised to
have Zarda Barbeque, SmokeStack, Sneads or Masterpiece cater
to
their customers; as I think you might be able to make a case in
court against their kitchen - should you ever desire to.
The beer is ice cold, however...And most of the time - the
entertainment (which is THE main attraction) is TOP DRAWER...
Best bet - Dine elsewhere; before you come here, for the night!

Not a huge fan of BBQ, the few times that I have been present
there were for the music. If you want to hear some great blues
and eat some very good BBQ, this is the best that I have found
for that combination.
As this is a not a music review but a food review, I will say
the fare was better than most BBQ restaurants in the area.
I had a combo platter which included spare ribs and sausage,
cole slaw and fries. I didn't eat the fries, (Not a bad thing
as I never do.) The ribs were much better than I have eaten at
other, supposedly, better BBQ restaraunts.
The service has always been excellent. I have only been there
a
couple of times but each time I was impressed that I was treated
very well. The times I have been there have been when a band was
playing and were very busy. I did not notice that the service
suffered from the increase in business. I felt that my server
was having fun as I was.
Even though I'm not a big fan ...
