For over 30 years now, The Ruma's Deli at 1395 Covington Manor Ln is one of the best places in St. Louis for sandwiches. And it's the only place to get the original Ruma's, . On this page, the owner of the Watson location is trash talking the real Ruma's on Covington Manor. About a year ago, I was bragging to some friends out in Ofallon, how good Ruma's was. So one night I decided to pick up some super sandwiches. Unfortunately I went to the Watson Ruma's, I placed my order, And I asked if this was a family owned store. The man told me that he was the owner and then began trash talking the original Ruma's. He told me almost word for word, the same thing he has written on this page. As I walked to my car the bag felt light for having 4 Super sandwiches in it. When I met up with my friends, we unwrapped the sandwiches, The first comment was, "this is what you have been bragging about ? Subway makes bigger sandwiches than this" someone else said Schnucks makes bigger sandwiches than this. I had to listen to jokes all night because I bragged on these so much. A month later I went to the original Ruma's on Covington Manor Ln and placed the same order. As soon as they handed me the bag, I knew these were the real deal. I love this place. I miss the location in the CWE, though. I have to admit I order the same thing each time. It is a hot roast beef sandwich with cheese and garlic butter and gravy. I can't remember the name of it, but I'm definitely hooked on it. My son gets a ham and swiss and adds their salad dressing to it. It's pretty good too. A reasonably priced deli. less
