They 're-decorated' this place not so long ago. Personally, I liked it better before. It was more of a take out place. I think they are trying to be a real restaurant now. The food is only okay and the service still hasn't improved. Its not slow, its just that they aren't that friendly. The place also smells like a smoke house which is right next door.

price is sort of high, and the sushi isnt very special. Have a very interesting menu. You can get all0you-can eat for cheap and they charge you extra for the sushi you take and dont eat. Weird.

The food is average, and the prices have gone up over the years. But what is really terrible is the service. I was appalled at how rude and unhelpful the hostess was.

This restaurant used to have a bad service. However, the last time I went, they have changed their waitresses and the service was much better. It's a little and closey restaurant. The sashimi & sushi are pretty tasty.

I've been to many sushi bars where you could tell the fish had been around in the refrigerator for a few days. (It is especially telling with the yellowtail.) After surviving such offerings at Sono Sushi and Miyake, I found Masa's to be a pleasant relief. The fish here is fresh. You can taste the difference. They are a little stingy on the portions, however, but they make up for it with a free appetizer.

Masa's is great for take-out sushi. They specialize in that, although the last couple of years they have tried to get more people to dine in. The value is excellent, and the sushi is fresh. Variety is not up to some standards, but good for a quick bite of sushi.

I found this little place to be alittle better than Sono Sushi in downtown. Masa's is near the intersection of California and San Antonio, and is kinda hard to spot. It's next to Ditmer's Deli. Nothing really special about this place, just average in quality, reasonable in price, simple decor, and decent service.

Don't be put off by the location - the sushi is extremely fresh and very good value. Carry-out is fast and friendly. They have a number of interesting specials ("spider roll" with soft shell crab).

I'm giving Masa's an extra star for their TAKE-OUT sushi trays, which are always first-rate. Having had sushi all over the Bay Area, the large take-out trays from Masa's are as good as any sushi/sashimi I've had anywhere else. Fresh, flavorful and ample portions. We drive all the way from the East Bay to get their take-out! Worth every penny!! Try it. You'll LIKE it.
