Been there for years. The sizzling rice soup is incredible.

A wonderful family owned restaurant that has stood the test of time.
The dishes range from Chinese to Korean, and would easily sell for 15-20$
at other locations. The unusually loyal clientele can vouch for the
kindness of the staff and quality of the food. This is your proverbial
diamond in the rough.

We have been customers of New Mandarin Garden (just west of Orchard
Lake Road on 13 Mile in Farmington Hills) for at least 20 years, and enjoy
the consistent quality and friendly staff. Our favorite is Mu Shu Chicken,
which we usually order with "low salt" (it may not even be
on the menu - Mu Shu with other meat is listed, but they have always been
great at cooking to order).

Presentation of the food is different than most Amercans are
used to, but the food is good. Large groups have to sit in smoking-sometimes
a problem. Very nice owners.

Not your typical cantonese style chinese food that most americans
are accustomed to, although they offer most time honored favorites(
almond boneless, general tso's, etc..).
The New Mandarin garden dishes up flavorfull and healthy(no
msg)fair with a mandarin twist. The decor is what you might find
in most chinese restaurants but the food is well above average.
