I bit into a metal staple while eating the sausage sampler. That's
right. A metal staple. The one used to fasten your important documents
to other important documents. The staple was hidden in a piece of kielbasa.
The waitress whisked it away faster than you can say lawsuit. Her excuse?
"Oh we get the kielbasa from a different vendor?" Huh? You
mean the vendor that uses staples? I know what you’re thinking. I
got the meal for free right? WRONG! The sampler was free, but I had to
pay for the rest. I know I know we should have fought it. I was tired, it
was late, and I would've thrown tables over. Oh and another thing.
Try searching for this restaurant on Yahoo travel. Not there huh? That's
because I wrote the same review on there back in December. Looks like
one bad review makes Great Lakes take the whole restaurant off Yahoo
Travel. Sheeeeesh!

The beer is the star. Great lakes makes some of the finest microbrews
in America and at their restaurant you can get most of them fresh on tap.
The food is occasionally imaginative (goat cheese and basil pizza
and the like. The prices on the high side and because you'll want
to sample a few beers the bill may be a bit higher than you'd expect.
They have a new outside eating area which I haven't yet tried (winter
won't end) but that I'm looking forward to. It's just
a block from Cleveland's famous West Side Market so if you're
on the near west side of Cleveland you might as well hit both the market
and the brewpub.

Great place. A lot of nice improvements in the past years. Wide
variety of entrees and beers that they brew acorss the street.
Many of them are award-winners. You just have to go and find out
why on your own. Close to I-90 and downtown.

The Great Lakes own brews are hard to beat, but the eclectic menu
with chicken, steaks and seafood don't pale too much in comparison.
The staff is warm and friendly and the atmosphere of the nostalgic
site is another unique part of the restaurants character. Appealing
to many people for many different reasons, and almost impossible
to get a table on Friday night without a reservation. I personally
enjoy sitting at a booth in the bar area!

Really cool interior with good food and beer. Wide selection
of unusual dishes different from most of the microbrews.

Excellent food. The staff is great at recommending dishes--and
they're honest. The beer is brewed on site. On weekends, reservations
are a must.

They brew their own local beers, and the selection, can and will
please anyone that like's something different. Steak to die
for, seafodd, that is out of this world, and service that can't
be beat. When on the lower west side of Cleveland near the Market,
you just hafta, wanna go there.
