Great bbq. We are from the mw so we are used to good bbq. This was different than the way we are used to eat it, but it was awesome none the less.

If you look in the dictionary for "Carolina BBQ" there's a map to this place under the definition...amazing...the kind of establishment that really makes you miss this part of the country. Very reasonable, very authentic and just simply wonderful.

Simple NC barbecue at its finest. There is no better sandwich than this pork barbecue with a heaping pile of slaw......and sweet iced tea.

Qite simply, some of the best BBQ in the world. Take my word for it or pick up ANY guide to BBQ in the U.S. and you will fin Allen and Son. Keep in mind this is Piedmont style 'Q. This means a thin, vinegary red sauce with plenty of red pepper. They also have vinegar sauce. Allen and Son is different than alot of eastern N. Carolina BBQ places in that their ribs are as good as their pulled pork. The latter is finly pulled and, yes, you will get strange looks if you don't put slaw on you sandwitch. The ribs are baby back and really don't need any sauce. The meat commes off the bone easily and has just enough tooth to not fall off when you pick up each rib. The sides are fine and play a good supporting role to the BBQ, as they should. The decore at Allen and Son isn't much to speak of. It's just nice and homey, but with 'Q this good what do you need.

Good BBQ. The hush puppies though are great. Take out, eat in or eat out, they do it all.
