Why idependent coffee houses are better than chains:

1) Small batch roasters as suppliers, regardless of what Starbuck's
and Caribou says about "custom roasting."
2) Responsible ethical politics when choosing their suppliers
- lots of sustainable ecology in these places.
3) Attention to detail.
4) Individual, eclectic design.

Uncommon Grounds has all this in spades, plus great location
for people watching. Right up there with Dunn Brothers.
This place is really great. They have plush seating, play good
music, have indoor or outdoor tables, and the uptown clientele
makes the place all the better.

This place has the absolute best atmosphere of any coffeehouse I've
ever been to. It looks like a normal house from the outside, but inside,
there's some of the best coffee I've ever had. This place kicks Starbuck's
butt any day of the year.
