This restaurant has been totally redone since the reviews above. There is a new owner and the entire restaurant has been gutted and redone. There are new servers and the service has improved tremendously, if you havent been there in a while you have got to go see this place, order the #6 its my favorite.

I find Eppes Essen to be uneven. Some of the hot entrees are fine, but the deli meat leaves a lot to be desired. Most recently I bought a very overpriced deli sandwich and ended up throwing most of it away because the taste was "off". This was not the first time it happened. The knishes are good, everything else is pretty much average. I have crossed it off my list of places to go, mostly since the quality is so unreliable - good one day, okay the next, horrible the next. I have never found Eppes Essen to be any better than anywhere else, and would never recommend it.

Eppies is a true deli dive. The service stinks, and the water tastes horrible, but they have the best mushroom and barley soup around. They also have wonderful huge hotdogs and a huge selections of salads to accompany them, my favorite being the potato salad. Their sandwiches are wonderful, especially the Eppie special, which includes hot roastbeef, turkey cole slaw and russian dressing. Best of all is that they are one of the few places around that still serve Dr. Brown's.

My mouth is watering just thinking of this place. Just give me one of their corned beef sandwiches on rye, a good sour pickle, and I am in heaven. The sandwiches are huge (some say that one sandwich can feed two, but I've always managed to devour the whole sandwich, with no help). Great place to pick up food for at home.
