the chowders are great. it's a classic seattle dining institution, much like dick's. ivar's however offers quality food and a better atmosphere (it's not hard to beat a parking lot). definitely check it out if you've never been.

Nice place with a great view of the Space Needle. The salmon was good with a nice lemon sauce. Service was good but slow due to how busy it was.

I have been here both for dates and with a large banquet party. Both times the food was delicious, the view of Lake Union, downtown Seattle and the Space Needle was fantastic. I can wholeheartedly recomend this restaurant for any occasion. And the prices are quite resonable.

I went here for a date. The atmosphere is very romantic, and service is good. I always go for the fish and chips, and it's just as yummy as the food stands by the ferry. Good choice of wines.

We started with the famous chowder, my partner had red, I had white. It's not hyped - it is outstanding. Entrees on this evening were the skewered shrimp and a combo of shrimp, halibut, salmon, and steelhead. We were very satisfied with each. The potatoes au graten were superb. We enjoyed touring the restaurant and watching the cooks grilling the fish. Great setting on Lake Union. Good service. Enjoy.

The best and most well-known seafood restaurant in town and likely in the northwest.

Ivar's Salmon House is a beautiful cedar replica of a Northwest Indian Longhouse, complete with an open-pit Indian-style barbecue for preparing succulent alder-smoked entrees. Here, in a setting filled with Northwest native artifacts and historical photographs, you'll enjoy memorable meals surrounded by spectacular views of boats cruising on Lake Union with the city skyline in the background. Favorite daily entrees and fresh-sheet selections include alder-smoked salmon, prawns, prime rib, alder-smoked chicken, and seasonal seafood specials. The outdoor Fish Bar offers casual lakeside dining or quick take-out food. And don't forget our lavish Sunday Brunch, a well-loved family tradition.
