I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant that was so highly
recommended that turned out to be so bad. I consider myself to be a pretty
fair judge of barbeque and this really didn't measure up. The pork
was basically tasteless, the sauce which we had heard so much about
was bland. Adding Tobasco made it somewhat lively. All in all it was
a very disappointing experience. The only reason this place has a long
line is that there is no one competent working the counter, and there
must be a whole lot of people out there who don't the meaning of good
barbeque.

Maybe I caught Dixie's on a very bad day, but 2 stars is generous. I was looking for a pork sandwich. It was swimming in sauce, as was the
beef. I believe that the meat should speak for itself, and the only unsauced
meat I could order were pork ribs. They were old, like they had been on
the steam table for too long. Very disappointing considering how its
rated here.

What else is there to say, "Have you met the man?". Might I suggest
the slightest of tastes of the man, otherwise make sure you have
something to drink close by, and or some bread. I've tried everything
from the sandwiches to the combo plate, red beans and rice (I grew
up on this stuff!), Pork & Beef ribs, chicken, cornbread. The
smell of the kitchen will make your mouth water way before you
taste anything.
Its not the easiest place to find, part of a Auto repair place and
off the beaten path, and it can only be called BBQ/picnic table
dining. Get there early for lunch or you'll be looking for someplace
to sit. The owner walks around with his pot of the man, daring the
heat lovers in the crowd to redefine their idea of HOT.
Its a must for BBQ lovers
