El matador has been in business for 43 years and there is a reason. this family owned business has great mexican food at great prices. i live in salt lake now but continue to drive to ogden to visit this establishment. their enchilada sauce is the best...as is their salsa...they serve it warm with shredded cheese. invented by chef tony himself. fantastic concept. people i know of keep going back after years and years. it is on my list of the top five best restaurants. i will continue to go there.

I love the El Matador! Good food, low price, and a fun atmosphere! This is one of those restaurants that I miss since moving to Salt Lake. I definitely reccomend this place. The portions are large, too. mmmm!

"Beef burrito, Enchilada Style" I've ordered this for over twenty years and the ennui of El Matadors has set in. Ahh, for the days of Bubba's Barbeque and salmonella poisoning and insurance settlement checks, but I digress. They are still using the same pictures and decor at El Matadors that they were using in the 70's. Those plastic water jugs are still the same. It feels like a restaurant that hasn't changed in twenty years, although the prices have remained about the same too, so I guess there are tradeoffs.

El Matador is your run of the meal Mexican restaurant. Like the other reviews I agree it is dark but I like it because it adds a little privacy if your on a date. The food is farely good but Ive had better Mexican food at other places. The prices are very competative and you can have a decent dinner for two for under twenty bucks.

The restaurant is dark and mysterious atmosphere and you can get a drink. The food is great and authentic. The menu offers just about anything you could want a the service is great.

this food is great, the atmosphere is dark, but its a very cool. Its an amabiance created intentionally to set the mood for a night time fiesta in the back yard. there is a bar the margaritas are good my friends.
