I used to be a waitress at this place, and let me tell you, it was wonderful!
I ended up having to leave due to pregnancy complications, but I still
dine in every once in a while. Joe and Jackie are the greatest bosses
ever, and I loved working with Pat and Lisa and Mary. It was one of the
best jobs I'd ever had, and the food is so WONDERFUL! Best pancakes
I have ever had!

This is a super place to eat, if you like BIG food at a dirt cheap
price, and you don't mind the open, "greasy spoon" closeness
of people dining a few inches away from you in booths or tables.
The folks that own this place also own a high-end middle-eastern
restaurant called Le Mediterranean, and they run both (breakfast
and lunch at Joe's and Dinner at the other one). Here's an example
of what you can get for less than $5--2 pancakes, 2 eggs, hash browns,
toast, bacon and sausage (order each one of the standard daily
specials). They're also quite accommodating for special tastes
and the waitresses are friendly and efficient. Don't order juice
though--they charge a fortune for a tiny glass of mediocre juice.
Water's probably your best bet (besides coffee, of course).
As a side note, if the owner's wife is there (she usually is), ask
her about her role in the George Clooney movie, "Three Kings".
It's very interesting.
